Bach Ma National Park is such an ideal tourist destination for adventurous travelers who enjoy hiking through the woods, climbing mountains, sightseeing from very high uphill, unwinding in the wild. Coming to Bach Ma National Park, you will feel like you are lost in another world with foggy and cloudy peaks looking down to a vast majestic landscape and charming picturesque ambiance of the green forests and the city far away. This is the ideal place for you to admire the natural beauty of Hue and Da Nang on just a one-day journey.
You can swim in cool streams or the Five Lakes here as well, which is one of the most relaxing activities at the site. Conquering Vong Hai Dai peak (literally means Sea view tower) or climbing the mountain to reach the stunning dreamy Do Quyen waterfall at the altitude of 300m (Do Quyen means Rhododendron, a kind of flower that beautifully grows densely around the waterfall, and often blooms fascinatingly from March to June.) Here is also a harmonious shared home for a diverse fauna and flora system, many among which are listed as endangered species that need proper conservation.
The ideal cool temperature (18-23 degrees Celsius) during summer months (April to August) together with its lush, refreshing ecosystem make this national park a fascinating, generous host to a lot of visitors and holiday-makers.
Where is Bach Ma National Park?
Bach Ma is a spectacular mountain range belonging to Bach Ma National Park, a natural boundary between Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city. If you depart from Da Nang, you will reach Bach Ma after crossing 3 constant passes: Hai Van, Phuoc Tuong, and Gia Phu, then head straight for a while till pass Lang Co beach. Meanwhile, if you start to go from Hue city, it just takes only about 40 km.
Bach Ma is a beautiful forest, with cool springs. The atmosphere there is pure and still. There is a restaurant on the top of the mountain. I think recommended for those who want to explore nature
How to get to Bach Ma?
Option 1: Hue – Bach Ma route
From the center of Hue city, you head to the side of Danang on the map, on National Highway 1A. then keep driving to Phu Loc commune till you see a big blue road sign on the right showing the direction to Bach Ma. From here, you can easily follow the arrow’s direction for just a short distance ahead.
Note: When you already reach Phu Loc commune, there will be another road sign indicating the entrance to Truc Lam Bach Ma Zen Monastery. It is a different place, not the national park. So kindly pay attention to the site name written on those boards.
Option 2: Da Nang – Bach Ma route
You just need to get to Hai Van Pass then head to National Highway 1A after finishing the pass. Next, there will be the same blue road sign with similar instructions as the Hue – Bach Ma route mentioned earlier.
You would feel like getting lost in a tall thick green maze of dense forests as both sides of the roads leading to the national park from Highway 1A are covered with cool leafy shades. The air when you get closer to the park would be much fresher and cooler, unlike when you were still traveling on the big highway since you already approach nature. When you finally arrive at the foot of the mountain, the staff here will give you detailed instructions of the place for your safety and enjoyment.
How to get around in Bach Ma National Park
You will need to buy an entrance ticket right at the front gate (40,000 VND / person). It is quite far from the gate to Bach Ma peak (about 19km) so if you would like something adventurous and already be in good shape, you can hike as instructed to get there. Otherwise, you can rent a 12-seat car for that a round trip ride which costs about 900,000 VND.
That 19km route is almost steep and winds along the ridge. Spotting this road from the other side of the mountain, it looks like a giant python. And right below that “python” would be big streams gracefully snaking around the mountains. The dreamy clouds that cover the peak at a certain level of altitude would leave a great impression in you about how heavenly the place gets when you climb upper to the top. It normally takes you around 45 minutes to 1 hour to finish the 16km way to reach Bach Ma peak.
